Node 5 concerns knowledge transfer activities, both academic and professional training. This node is composed by two work packages:

Node 1 Science & Policy Interface Methodology

Node 2 System Approach Framework Methodology

Node 3 Study Sites Activities

Node 4 Support and Services

Node 5 Knowledge Transfer

Work Package 12: Academic Training supports the development of academic programmes and curricula in disciplines related to quantifying the interactions between society and coastal ecosystems. It also enables the development of research and academic staff and curricula within Europe that serves ICZM and educates the theory and application of the SAF, as well as facilitates lessons to be transferred from SAF research into the field, and from one region of Europe to another.

Work Package 13: Professional Training deals with the incorporation into professional training of the methodologies and knowledge associated with the SAF developed in SPICOSA. This WP intends to expand the range of professional ICZM training currently available in Europe. This expansion focus on making the Systems Approach Framework available to project participants as well as to the broader professional community. In order to achieve this - SETNet – Education and Training Network has been established and Training modules have been developed with an emphasis on the practical application of the SAF. This will continue to develop via further recruitment of coastal practitioners and policy makers, dissemination of learning material and training opportunities and production of newsletters, as well as by stimulating strong links with existing training programs and networks such as CoastLearn, ENCORA, COREPOINT, IMCORE and EUCC among others.
